CommonGround volunteer Leslie Boswell shares her recipe for stuffed burgers with Pure Nebraska viewers.

Stuffed Burgers

  • 1 1/2 lb. of ground beef
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • ½ teaspoon of your favorite hamburger spice

  • Mix all ingredients into the ground beef. It is good to store in the refrigerator for several hours.
  • Form your patties in three-ounce sections or balls. Place the balls on a cookie sheet and flatten.
  • Place your stuffing ingredients in the center. Be careful to not over stuff your burger.
  • Place another 3-ounce flattened patty on top of your stuffed burger and pinch the sides together.
  • Turn your grill on medium heat. Once the grill is ready, cook your burgers for 4-5 minutes on each side.
  • Make sure the burgers are cooked to an internal temperature of 165 degrees.

Stuffing Ideas:
Caramelized onions
Chopped peppers
Blue Cheese crumbles
Cheddar Cheese or any kind of shredded cheese
Bacon crumbles
Mac and Cheese – make sure it is completely cold before placing on raw hamburger
