Katy Wolff grew up in Northeast Ohio, where 4-H and showing livestock at the county fair was her passion throughout her childhood and teenage years. Following her love for livestock, Katy attended Ohio State University and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, followed by a 5-year tenure at The University of Missouri to earn both a Master’s and a Doctorate in Animal Science. Katy has worked in the Agriculture industry at one of the world’s largest food manufacturers for the last seven years in research and development, and most recently, supply chain. Katy met her husband of 7 years in a beef packing plant during graduate school, and today, they reside in rural Columbus, NE. Katy and her husband can often be found taking care of four-legged, hided critters or two-legged, feathered ones with the help of their three young daughters. While Katy and her husband work full-time off the farm, they dedicate nights and weekends to the family operation in Norfolk, NE, which concentrates on raising meat animals, including cattle, sheep, and goats. The Wolffs are also very active in their church and serve in multiple leadership and volunteer positions at the local, state, and national levels. Katy is a garden enthusiast and loves cooking and baking, especially for her family and friends. Katy believes in the power of food to unite people, and the kitchen is where she truly feels at home. Katy is passionate about sharing her story and knowledge of the meat and food industries through CommonGround Nebraska. As a mom and chef for her family, Katy can relate to the desire to provide wholesome and safe food for our families. She brings a unique perspective as a scientist and agriculture aficionado to teach others how their food is produced, beginning with the local producer and going through production at significant food processing facilities.
