In a bowl beat together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, syrup and cinnamon.
In an un-greased bread pan put the cubes of French bread; pour egg mixture over the top, mix and let stand for 15 minutes.
Bake in a 325 degree oven for 55-60 minutes, until knife inserted towards the center comes out clean.
Run knife around the edge to loosen.
Optional items could be added like raisins, dried cherries or pecans.
Instructions for French Toast
Mix the egg, milk, vanilla, syrup and cinnamon in a shallow pie pan.
Slice bread pudding into about 1 inch slices.
Dredge in egg mixture and fry on griddle.
Turn when crisp on bottom.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
